Christine "Chris" Murphy Wicker, 90, of Newberry and formerly of Greenwood, died on February 10, 2018 at White Oak Manor in Newberry.
Mrs. Wicker was born in Headland, Alabama on March 19, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Herley L. and Lessie West Murphy.
"Chris" as she was called, was married to the late Laurence David Wicker, Jr., the love of her life for 66 years. They moved often during David's employment eventually retiring to Chappells, SC. They enjoyed restoring the more than 200 years old home place, the "Moon Dominick House" and hosting numerous fun filled family gatherings there.
Mrs. Wicker was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Newberry and a former member of Main St. Methodist Church in Greenwood. She was a superb homemaker and a beloved wife and mother who would do anything for family.
Survivors include her daughter, Dianne Wicker Perry and husband Dana E. Perry of Newberry; grandson, Joseph H. Pinder and wife Jennifer; two great grandchildren, Jordan and Joey Pinder of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter, LoriAne P. Lester and husband William of Tazewell,VA; three great grandchildren, Kaylee Lester of Tazewell, VA, Kayce Singletary of Alpharetta, GA, Ashley Fisher and husband Steven Fisher of Sandyville, West VA; three great-great grandchildren, Kyler, Parker, and Carter Fisher; sister, Mary M. Porter of Moultrie, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Jean and Charles Simmons and Patsy Crouch; seven nephews, Thomas, Greg, Orval, Bruce, Mac, Emory and Stanley; and seven nieces, Edwina, Marcia, Yvonne, Jane, Susan, Laura and Debra.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Phillip Andrew Perry; sisters, Ann M. Strickland and Jeffrey M. Bostic; brother, R. E. Murphy, and brothers-in-law, Fate Crouch and Ray K. Wicker.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Newberry Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Surrett and Rev. James Williams officiating.
