Christopher W. Routon

Christopher Woodfin Routon, 56, of Newberry, South Carolina, died on Friday, May 22th, 2026, at Newberry Health Hospital. Born on February 9th, 1970, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Christopher was a son of Agnes M. Routon and the late George Woodfin Routon.

Christopher’s spirit never wavered and he lived a life full of love and devotion to his family and friends. He was an enthusiastic golfer and a passionate sports fan. One of his greatest joys in life was teaching and coaching his son in sports, baseball being one of the many favorites, Christopher shared with Jesse the love of the sport and the life lessons it imparted. His son was truly the center of his world, and his legacy of love and guidance will endure in Jesse's heart.

Christopher is survived by his cherished son, Jesse Routon; his mother, Agnes Mazzanti Routon of Newberry, South Carolina; sister, Julia Routon of Savannah, Georgia, and his brother, Benjamin Routon (Trish) of Wilmington, North Carolina. Christopher was also survived by nieces, Kirsten and Katherine; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Mike and Rose Mazzanti; and paternal grandparents, J. Woodfin Routon and Jane O. Routon.
