Claire Smith Hentz, 75, of White Rock, died Friday, September 29, 2017 at Palmetto Health Parkridge.
Mrs. Hentz was born in Laurens, SC on June 11, 1942, a daughter of the late W. Wade and Sara Lanford Smith.
She was a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse with the Chester County Hospital. She was nationally certified in infection control and medical coding.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and a member of the Daughters of the Revolution, Walhalla Chapter.
Mrs. Hentz is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edwin C "Ted" Hentz of White Rock; daughters; Mary Katherine Hentz Clemens (Dennis) of Winston Salem, NC, Martha Hentz Lipold (John) of Clermont, GA, and Rebecca Hentz Davis (Edwin) of Ballentine; brother, William Wade "Bill" Smith, Jr. (Sue) of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Sara Katherine Sawtelle of Dallas, TX; 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Heritage at Lowman, 2101 Dutch Fork Rd, Chapin, SC.
A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM in the New Life Chapel at the Heritage at Lowman conducted by Rev. Dr. Derald Edwards and Rev. Roy Butler.
Interment will be held at a later date in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
