Clara L. Hentz 90 of Pomaria died Sunday May 4 2014 at White Oak Manor. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Pomaria Lutheran Church by Rev. Derald Edwards and Rev. Arden Hallman. Interment was in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Born on July 11 1923 in Newberry SC she was a daughter of the late Annie Belle Chapman and Norman J. Long. She was a retired employee of MepCo formerly G.E. in Irmo. Mrs. Hentz was a member of Pomaria Lutheran Church where she served on various committees and Pomaria WELCA. She was also a member of The Eastern Star Little Mountain Chapter #276 and the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post # 24. She is survived by a daughter Cathy H. Meetze of Pomaria; her son David J. Hentz (Gayle) of Mooresville NC; a brother Frank Long (Faye) of Prosperity; grandchildren Beverly Hollowell (John) Sally Hentz; and Candace Coker (Todd); great grandchildren Rebeckah Amanda and Jeremy Hollowell and Hannah and Katie Coker; step-grandchildren Lori Cooke (Andy) and Stephanie Ingram; 7 step-great grandchildren; 2 step-great great grandchildren special nieces Elaine Bailey and Lydia Merchant; great niece Ingrid Trotter; great nephew Phillip Trotter; and a very special friend Steve Sinclair. She was predeceased by her husband Woodrow B. Hentz; brother William E. Bill Long; and a son-in-law Floyd Meetze.
