Clarence J. Joe Teseniar 82 of 1118 Marion Street Newberry died Friday July 1 2011 at his residence. Mr. Teseniar was born on July 9 1928 in Caroleen NC a son of the late Adam Leander and Ida Lowery Teseniar. He joined the US Navy in 1946 retiring from the Navy in 1963 with the rank of RMCS (SS). He served in World War II the Korean War and the Vietnam War having served on numerous U.S. submarines. He later retired from Torrington in Honea Path SC. Mr. Teseniar was a member of College Street Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and the Sunday School Director. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars the American Legion the Fleet Reserve Association and was a mason. He is survived by his wife Connie Burgess Teseniar; daughter Pauline Scarbrough of Benton KY; sons Gary (Ruth) Teseniar of Symsonia KY and Greg (Debbie) Teseniar of Washougal WA; step-sons Chad Howard and Todd Howard both of Goose Creek; five grandchildren; sisters Edith Burton and Frances Reed both of Newberry; a brother Robert Teseniar of Newberry; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son David Teseniar; a granddaughter Tanya Teseniar; sister Alice Frier; and brothers Joseph Teseniar Gene Teseniar C.M. Teseniar and Earl Normal Teseniar. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday July 6 at the College Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Ken Ferrell and Rev. Glen Mosteller. Interment with military honors were at 2:00 P.M at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry.
