Claude Lester Long, 66, of Silverstreet, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at his residence.
Born September 18, 1950 in Pomaria, he was the son of the late Ira B. and Sara Sligh Long. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving two tours in the Vietnam War. A carpenter by profession, he worked many years for Moose Construction Company.
Claude was a jokester, a man with a sense of humor who loved fishing, playing the lottery and cooking. He was a good father and grandfather and was always helping and caring for others.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Jacobs Long; children, Amanda Vazquez (Angel Ranzauri) and Michael Long (Britney); grandchildren, Brianna Davenport (John Davenport IV), Kristopher Long, Tatiana Ranzauri, Reese Long, Dreamer Ranzauri, Angel Ranzauri, and Flora Long; a great grandchild, Micah Davenport; and siblings, Deborah Wix, Randy Long (Dianne), Gertrude Worthy (James) and David Long.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 16, 2017 at Newberry Church of God conducted by the Rev. Michael Davis.
The family will receive friends at the church following the funeral service.
