Cyril S. Halfacre 98 of Newberry died Monday January 5 2015 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday in St. James Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rodney Gunter. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service at the Church. He was born in Newberry County on July 3 1916 a son of the late Perry F. and Hattie Sease Halfacre. He graduated from St. Phillips High School. As a young man he pitched for the St. Phillips community team and in later years he told of one special game where he pitched a shut-out. Mr. Halfacre worked as an automobile mechanic for W.H. Davis & Son for 20 years and later retired from Kirk Pontiac-Cadillac Co. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and attended as long as he was able. He enjoyed cars fishing and baseball. As a senior citizen he was a member of the Bush River Friendship Club where while able he enjoyed being their driver on various trips He loved to laugh and kept his sense of humor even on his last morning of earthly life. He is survived by his daughter and her husband Janice and Hugh R. Bob Graham of Ladson SC; a grandson Hugh R. Rob Graham Jr. of Ladson; a sister Troxelle Senn of Newberry; sisters-in-law Dorothy Halfacre and Betty Halfacre both of Newberry; nieces Marianne Carlisle (Chris) and Linda Halfacre; and great nieces Ann-Marie and Jennifer Carlisle.. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years Margaret Sease Halfacre; sister Alethia Halfacre Abrams; brothers Perry E. Halfacre and Harry W. Halfacre.
