IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David M.
Scott
March 11, 1942 – May 4, 2024
Loving father and grandfather, David Morriss Scott passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 82 years old.
A native of West Virginia, he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as a teenager and later served in the US Army. After returning to Florida, he met his wife of 47 years, and together they had 3 children. They moved to Columbia, SC, where his outgoing nature and ability to connect with people allowed him to start, establish, and sell a successful utility consulting business, a proud accomplishment.
After being diagnosed with Parkinson's, he fought valiantly to stay active and check daredevil adventures off his bucket list, including jumping off of the Stratosphere tower, flying in vintage aircraft, and acquiring multiple colorful tattoos. A regular attender of Seacoast Church—Irmo, he especially valued the men he met with regularly.
He was a natural-born storyteller who has now joined the Author of the greatest story ever told.
David was preceded in death by his father, Joe, his mother, Goldie, and his sister, Carolyn. He is survived by the mother of his children, Diane Scott, and his children and grandchildren: his oldest daughter, Debbie (Neal) and grandchildren Zachary (Michelle), Peggy, and Kailey; his only son, Dan (Stella) and granddaughter Tia; and his youngest daughter Dawn (James) and grandson, Mason.
Graveside services with US Army Honors will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, 10:00 AM, at Bush River Memorial Gardens by Pastor Andy Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Tribute Gifts be made to The Parkinson's Foundation at www.parkinson.org.
Memories and messages of condolence may be shared with the family here on his tribute wall.
Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to serve the Scott family.
