David William Stephen 57 of Plantation Acres Rd. Newberry died Sunday June 26 2011 at his residence. Born on May 7 1954 in Saginaw MI he is a son of Irene Armstrong Stephen and the late Forrest W. Stephen. Mr. Stephen grew up in Montrose MI and graduated from Montrose Hill McCloy High School in 1972 and was also an Eagle Scout. He was the owner and operator for C.J. Transport. He enjoyed hunting hiking canoeing and gardening. Mr. Stephen loved his family and his grandchildren were his heart. He is survived by his wife Linda Kay Stephen; daughter Jaimee L. Stephen of Newberry; grandchildren; Jordan Christine Spicer Kristopher David Spicer and Caden Robert Stephen; sisters Mary Ann (Duane) Weibeck of Springfield OH and Kathleen (James) L. Goodhew Montrose MI; brother Rodney A. (Charlene) Stephen of Rogersville TN; mother-in-law Doris M. Brown & Richard Rathgaber; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his father he was predeceased by his daughter Christine M. Stephen; and father-in-law Robert L. Brown. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Enoree Baptist Church by the Rev. George Leagans. Interment was at the church cemetery. The family did receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry.
