Debra Cornelia Leavell, 68, of Newberry passed away on April 21, 2023.

Debra, an only child, was born February 7, 1955 to Harold V. Leavell and Lillian Brock Leavell in Newberry.

She graduated from Newberry High School, class of 1973, and was employed at Leavell's T.V. and Leavell's Azalea Farm and Gift Shops.

Debbie was strong minded and a spirited young woman, and never let her disability keep her from accomplishing all the many things she desired to do. She loved her cats and dogs and owned many over the years. Her favorite past time was playing her games on her computer and watching Carolina play football. She loved watching NASCAR and was a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Jeff Gordon.

Debbie was never married but was much loved by her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her cousin Lynn Roton Plyler, who cared for her at her home, and numerous other cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 3pm on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Newberry Memorial Gardens, 15127 CR Koon Hwy, Newberry, SC 29108.  Rev. Charles Clinton will be officiating the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Whitaker Funeral Home, 1704 College Street, Newberry SC 29108 to help defray funeral expenses.
