Delorys Duncan Flowers 87 of Newberry widow of Rev. C. William Flowers died Tuesday June 30 2015 in Mt. Pleasant SC. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday July 5 2015 at Bethany Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. Robert McCollum. Interment will be at Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home. She was born on February 19 1928 in Hickory NC the daughter of the late Simon and Lela Mae Duncan. Mrs. Flowers was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She had a passion for traveling the US with her husband and later with her adult children. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and was still gardening at the age of 87. One of her unique talents was that of taking snapshots of people making a handmade cross-stitch of the picture and giving them to that individual as a gift. Mrs. Flowers is survived by her children Joyce Davis of New Bern NC Tina McMeans (Robert) of Summerville and Denise Sease (James) of Lexington; grandchildren Christopher Davis Brian Davis Elizabeth Sease and Jeffrey McMeans; five great grandchildren; and sister Emma Lee Shook of Conover NC. In addition to her parents and husband she is predeceased by sisters Eunice Caldwell Evelyn Woodsides and Betty Dean Ussery; and brother Paul Duncan.
