Dennis R. Shumate 62 of 12 Polo Ridge Circle Columbia died Friday May 18 2007 in Richland Memorial Hospital.Mr. Shumate was born in Beckley West Virginia a son of the late Vince L. and Imogene Acord Shumate. He attended Marshall University and West Virginia University and was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Era. Mr. Shumate was owner of Shumate Appraisal Services Inc. He was a member of Incarnation Lutheran Church and a member of the George Rogers Foundation Board.A beloved husband father grandfather and friend he is survived by his wife Lou Ringer Shumate; a daughter Jennifer Shumate of Georgia; a son Joshua D. Shumate of Columbia; two step-sons Robert E. Morgan and Brian D. Morgan both of Columbia; two brothers James Vincent Shumate of Surprise AZ and Ronald Dean Shumate of Austin TX; three grandchildren Tyler Shumate Ethan Shumate and Michelle Shumate; godchildren Christopher and AnnaMarie Ringer; a great niece Carter Coggins; and his beloved dog Buddy.Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Monday at Incarnation Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. James Parham Bishop David Donges and the Rev. Phillip Coggins.
