Donald C. Saylor 64 of Newberry died Monday January 19 2015 in Union County. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday January 22 in First Baptist Church of Newberry by the Rev. Dr. Albert Allen and the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Harmon. Visitation will follow the service on Thursday in the sanctuary of the church. Don was born on October 19 1950 in North SC a son of Larkin Carter Saylor and the late Delene Jumper Saylor. He was a graduate of Clemson University and maintained a love for Clemson that was almost as deep as his love for family. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he currently served as Deacon and had previously served as a Sunday School teacher. Most of his career was in the poultry industry. He was currently employed with Circle S Ranch of Monroe NC. Don was a founding member and Past President of the SC Poultry Federation a member and Past President of the Newberry Exchange Club and also had previously served as Chairman of the Newberry County School Board. He was a loyal supporter of Newberry College and had formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Newberry Indian Club. Most significant Don was the man with the tender heart who had a deep and abiding love for his family his friends his church and his community. In addition to his father of Swansea Mr. Saylor is survived by his wife of 40 years Rosa Compton Saylor; daughters and their husbands Adele S. and Stewart Harmon of Chapin Tobin S. and John Guerry Allie S. and Zane Henderson and Larkin Anne Saylor all of Charleston; grandchildren Jefferson Carter Harmon Wesley Cole Harmon Garrett Jamison Harmon Corbin Alexander Guerry Owen Scott Guerry Jamison Saylor Guerry and Marcus Liam Henderson; sister and her husband Wanda and Alan Culler of Swansea and brother and his wife Steve and Pam Saylor of Lake Murray.
