Donald L. Knight, 77, of Newberry, died on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his residence. Born on October 26, 1938 in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Callie E. and Laura Jane Pardue Knight. After 33 years of service, Mr. Knight retired as a lineman with Duke Energy. Mr. Knight was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge, and the Saluda River Hunting Club. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing and hunting, and after his retirement he would work around his hunting schedule. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Linda Seymore Knight; children, Alisha Davenport (Eric) and Anita Fulmer of Newberry, and Alison Wicker of Prosperity; sisters, Vivian Kesler, Vonnie Trammell (Roger), and Connie Cannon, all of Newberry; and grandchildren, Lauren (Jesse), Cody, Whitney, Clay, Matthew, Brianna, Liam, Chloe, Harrison, and Reese. He is also survived by three daughters from a previous marriage. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Nathaline Riddle. Pallbearers will be Cody Price, Whitney McConnell, Lauren Mazza, Clay McConnell, Matthew Boland, Jesse Mazza, Eric Davenport, and Roger Trammell. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of West Electric and the Duke Energy Companies and the members of the Saluda River Hunting Club. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday, March 28, 2016 at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Pastor Jane Mitcham. Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
