Donna Christian Swinson Amick, 53, of Chapin, died Friday, June 2, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Amick was born on June 25, 1963 in Fort Benning, GA, a daughter of Elma Christian Newsome of Columbia and the late Offie Donwell Swinson. Mrs. Amick was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Department of Corrections in Columbia. Some of her favorite pastimes were reading, collecting recipes, riding the bike with her husband, and traveling, especially to the mountains. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 35 years, David Lamar Amick of Chapin; daughters, Sarah Christian Calcutt (Brad) of Lexington and Alison Renee` Meetze (Travis) of Chapin; her beloved grandchildren, Bradford Calcutt, Preston Calcutt, Lillian Calcutt, and Andrew Meetze; siblings, Lori Marie Swinson and Wesley Donwell Swinson (Frank Brown) all of Columbia; and mother-in-law, Bonnie Sue Amick of Chapin. She was predeceased by her father and her father-in-law, Daniel Jennings Amick. The family will have a celebration of life for Donna at 6:00 PM on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Chapin. Attendees are encouraged to dress causal and colorful.
