Doris Clark Rowe Coats 93 of Newberry died Thursday June 25 2015 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 5:30 PM Sunday June 28 2015 at Whitaker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday June 29 2015 at Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry by the Rev. Richard Goldie. Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. She was born in Clinton on June 13 1922 a daughter of the late John and Margaret Glass Clark. Doris was currently attending ONeal Street United Methodist Church. She especially enjoyed her connection with her family. She was an even tempered lady who was known as Nanny to more than just her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and others enjoyed her culinary talents. She is survived by her children Russell Rowe (Lisa) and Nancy Lee (Lewis) both of Newberry and Bruce Don Rowe of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren David Shealy Darin Shealy Debra Trinidad Ronald Rowe Lisa Rowe and Scott Rowe; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; sister Margaret Beener of Connecticut; sister-in-law Mary Clark of Newberry; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by first husband David Scott Rowe and her second husband James Earl Coats; a great-granddaughter Ashealy Shealy; and six siblings.
