Doris Dufford 85 of 1609 Evans St. Newberry died Thursday July 22 2010 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Ms. Dufford was born on June 28 1925 in Newberry a daughter of the late C. A. and Alma Lucille Cole Dufford. She attended Newberry College and was a 1950 graduate of Winthrop College. She was a Korean War Era veteran of the U.S. Air Force. She taught school in Loris S.C. and retired from the Air Force with the rank of Major. Ms Dufford was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. She was a strong supporter of Newberry College and in particular the womens athletics. She is survived by a brother William E. Bill Dufford of Columbia. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister Virginia Dufford and a brother Dr. C. A. Dufford Jr. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Floyd Sides and Rev. Caldwell Day. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at Whitaker Funeral Home.
