Doris Crouch Forbes, 91 of Roanoke died Tuesday, September 10. 2019. She was born November 13, 1927 in Villamont, daughter of the late George and Laura Dooley Crouch. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alton G. Forbes; son, Ricky Forbes and sister, Mildred Crouch . She graduated from Montvale High School and then went to work for the Norfolk and Western Railway and retired from Norfolk and Southern in 1989. Mom loved the outdoors and was active in the Girl Scouts and the Appalachian Trail Club. She is survived by her daughter, Aloris Dale and husband David; grandson, David Dale, Jr. and wife Heather; great granddaughter, Emily Dale; great grandson, Spencer Dale. The funeral service will be 12 noon Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with Rev. Donald W. Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Fair View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. Doris appreciated her friends and caretakers and a special thanks to Carla Vest.
