Doris Jones McMurtury, 66, of Whitmire, died January 11, 2019 at the Spartanburg Medical Center. Doris was a strong woman who fought a 24 year battle with cancer. She was caring and good hearted and always concerned about others even when she was not feeling well herself. Born on July 14, 1952 in Lauderdale County, AL, she was a daughter of the late Almon H. and Mary Lee Bunt Jones. She was a former employee of Kyzer Roth and Renfro. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dan W. McMurtury; siblings, Faye Jones of Union, SC, Alice Allen of Lexington, AL, Dalton Jones and Tony Jones both of Sheffield, AL, Charles Jones and Windell Jones both of Iron City, TN, Marty Jones of Florence, AL, and Jimmy Jones of Elgin Cross Roads, AL. In additional to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings, Roy Jones, Stanley Jones, Willie Jones, David Jones, Ruby Jones, and James Jones. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, January, 14, 2019 in the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Marty Jones. Interment will follow in Mt.
