Doris Miller Brooks Fleming 89 of Newberry died Wednesday July 30 2014 at her residence. Born on August 10 1924 in Newberry she was a daughter of the late Frank and Kate Miller. Mrs. Fleming was a lifetime member of ONeal Street United Methodist Church where she enjoyed participating in United Methodist Women and singing in the choir. Following 37 years of employment she retired from Damon International as a Supervisor. In later life she spent many enjoyable hours in her garden. She is survived by her husband Elmer George Fleming; daughter Sandra Brooks Carr (Andrew) of Greenville; son James Carol Brooks of Newberry; step-daughters Susie Mohr and Teresa Dorn of Greenwood; siblings Georgia Docia Evangeline and John (Judy); grandchildren Jimmy Christy Brent and Anna Marie; great grandchildren Isaiah Regan and Elijah. She was predeceased by her first husband J. C. Brooks; a son John; siblings Edward Juanita Mary Laura Nora and Frank. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sean M. Kilpatrick at 10:30 AM Friday August 1 2014 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry. The family did receive friends at the Funeral Home following the service.
