Dorothy Dickert Bowers and Charles E. Bowers married for seventy two years both died during the past fourteen months in Atlanta GA. Dorothy was born on March 5 1922 and preceded her husband in death on July 30 2013. Charlie was born on January 20 1912 and died August 10 2014. Charlie and Dorothy were raised in Newberry and attended Newberry High School. Both attended Newberry College where Dorothy received a Business degree and Charlie graduated with a BA in Education. Following graduation Charlie taught at Newberry High School for a number of years. He helped organize WKDK in 1947 and also served as Clerk of Court of Newberry County from 1952 1957. They attended Newberry ARP Church until moving to Atlanta where they were members of Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a daughter Ann Bowers one granddaughter and two great granddaughters; a number of nieces nephews and cousins. They were predeceased by a daughter Betty Bowers Williams. Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM at Rosemont Cemetery on Sunday October 5 2014 with the Rev. Mantel Nance officiating.
