Obituary

Dorothy Dot Cannon Long of 131 South Wheeler Ave. Prosperity died Thursday May 2 2013 at White Oak Manor. Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 P.M. Saturday May 4 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church by the Rev. Eric Fink. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family did receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Born on May 28 1932 in Chapin she was a daughter of the late Rufus and Belle Rauch Cannon. Mrs. Long was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was also a member of the Alter Guild the Newsletter Staff and the Meals Committee. She retired from Prosperity Manufacturing Company. She considered among her most treasured gifts being Grandma and Mema. Mrs. Long was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Luther James L.J. Long. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law; Deborah L. and Phil Ruff of Prosperity Lisa L. and David Riley of Florence and Paula L. and Ronnie Pridgen of Marion; grandchildren and their spouses Brandon and Julie Shealy Nathan and Sydney Shealy Jennifer and Bain Chandler Josh Riley Elizabeth Pridgen and Matthew Pridgen; and great-grandchildren Sullivan Shealy Skylar Grace Shealy Camryn Shealy Jonathan Shealy and Riley Edward Chandler; and especially supportive nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert and Hazel Smith Alice Hawkins and James and Glenda Torrence. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Lutheran Church Unified Budget or fund of ones choice PO Box 188 Prosperity SC 29127. The family expresses special thanks to the Staff of White Oak Manor Tri County Hospice and her Grace Lutheran Church family.
