Dorothy Dot Graham Halfacre of Newberry died Thursday January 22 2015 at Palmetto Richland Hospital. Services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at New Hope United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Kathy Carr. Visitation will follow the service at the church. A private burial will be at a later date. Born in Pomaria on June 28 1927 she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Lucy Hentz Graham. Dot was the last surviving member of her birth family. She graduated from Pomaria High School and was retired from Old School Manufacturing. She had also worked for Shakespeare Inc. And for over 30 years she thoroughly enjoyed selling Avon. She was a lifelong member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she received in 2014 the Faithful Service award for her dedicated service and years of attendance. Mrs. Halfacre was an outside person who especially enjoyed gardening. She was a woman who loved her animals and was always looking after her pets that were considered a part of her family. She will be remembered as a caring woman who always made others feel welcomed one who put the needs of her family and friends ahead of her needs. She cared deeply for all of her family and especially loved her granddaughters. She is survived by her daughters Marianne (Chris) Carlisle of Newberry and Linda Halfacre of Lexington; granddaughters Ann-Marie and Jennifer Carlisle; sisters-in-law Troxelle Halfacre Senn and Betty Halfacre both of Newberry; nieces and nephews Janice (Bob) Graham David Lominick Edward (Shirley) Mills Charles Mills Frankie (Judy) Grimsley and Harriette Derrick; great nieces and nephews; special neighbors Billy and Martha Smith; and grand dogs Cricket and Charley. She was predeceased by her husband Perry E. Halfacre and siblings Rozelle Mills John Graham Ruth Norris Mary Helen Graham Edna Lominick Mildred Cromer and Lois Grimsley.
