Dorothy Dot Grant Miskelly 80 died Saturday August 23 2014 at her residence. Born on October 31 1933 in Whitmire she was a daughter of the late John Lindsey Grant Sr. and Elsie Moore Grant. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Saturday August 30 2014 at St. Peter Lutheran Church 900 Dreher Island Road in Chapin by the Reverend Randall S. Derrick Visitation was from 12:30 to 1:30 PM on Saturday prior to the service at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Interment was in Whitmire Cemetery. Dot was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Chapin. She was a member and former Worthy Matron of the Newberry Chapter #226 Order of the Eastern Star and a member and former President of the Newberry Lions Club. During her career Dot was office manager and bookkeeper at several auto dealerships. She retired as Director of RSVP for Newberry County Council on Aging after many years of service in that capacity with the agency. Ms. Miskelly is survived by her sister-in-law Lynne Oswald Grant of Prosperity; niece Angela R. Grant of Raleigh NC; nephew Jeffrey Grant Peak of Columbia; aunt Nina Grant of Whitmire; and numerous cousins She was predeceased by her sister Helen Grant Peak and her brothers Richard (Red) Grant and John L. (Johnny) Grant Jr. The family wishes to extend special thanks and appreciation to Dots devoted caregiver Veronica Spearman.
