Dorothy Lee Scott Forbis, 96, formerly of North Carolina, died Friday, August 16, 2019 at Springfield Place in Newberry, SC where she had lived since 2011.
She was born on October 15, 1922 in Winston Salem, NC to Genos and Bertha Hedrick Scott. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Winston Salem.
Dorothy was a gifted lady who enjoyed ceramics and other crafts and loved to sing. She was very supportive of her husband, the Rev. William T. Forbis, during his years of ministry in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church and was a loving and caring mother to their two children Joyce and Richard.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2007 following 66 years of marriage. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Joyce and Steve Barrow of Newberry and Richard and Carolyn Forbis of Angier, NC; grandchildren, Scott and Katie Barrow of Kensington, NH, Stephanie and George Jenkins of Kernersville, NC, and Aaron and Amy Forbis of Albemarle, NC; great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Noah Jenkins and Isabelle Forbis; a sister, Jacqueline Rose Harding of Winston Salem and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her siblings, Harold, Robert and Donald Scott and Helen Dow and Geraldine Jordan.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2019 in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Winston Salem, NC with the Rev. Ray Teague officiating.
Visitation will follow at Main St. United Methodist Church, 306 S Main St., Kernersville, NC 27284.
