Dorothy "Dottie" Price, 74, of Newberry died Tuesday, January 17, 2023.

Born on September 4, 1948 in Cullman, AL, she was the daughter of the late James and Mildred Millican Sligh.

Dottie always put others first, even if that meant going without. In her work, she cared for the needs of others as a nurse at the Whitten Center and the Newberry County Disability and Special Needs program. In her faith life, she was a long-time member of the Newberry ARP Church where she kept the nursery for many years so parents could fully participate in worship. Even in her hobbies of cooking and baking, she did so in order to share with others who may need a little lift in their day.

Nana, as she was affectionately known, also gave of herself to her family. She loved her grandchildren dearly and treasured holidays and family gatherings. Her joy came from simply spending time together with those she loved.

She is survived by her sons, Terry Price and Chuck Price (Melanie), all of Newberry; sister, Carolyn Fulmer of Newberry; brothers, Bobby Sligh (Gladys) of Newberry and Jerry Sligh (Betty) of Pomaria; grandchildren, Brittany Proctor (Casey), Corey Price, Colin Price, and Cassidy Price; great-grandchildren, Brelon Proctor and Riley Proctor; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, C. Wingard Price; sister, Judy Kentnor; and brother-in-law, Tony Fulmer.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Tim Erskine at 2 PM Friday, January 20, 2023 at Newberry ARP Church. Burial will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.

Pallbearers will be Eli Godwin, Mac Fulmer, Bryan Sligh, Shawn Brown, Chad Brown, and Joshua Fulmer.
