Obituary

Dorothy McLeod Stucke, 92, of Chapin, SC, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Heritage at Lowman. Born on September 8, 1924 in Barnwell County, she was the daughter of the late Mamie Stokes McLeod and Henry Albertus McLeod. Mrs. Stucke graduated from Pinewood High School and from Columbia College in 1945 with an A.B. in Religious Education. On October 5, 1945, she married the Rev. Clarence H. Stucke. She lovingly and faithfully supported her husband during his pastoral work at Fairfax Parish, Fairfax, SC; St. Phillips Lutheran Church, Newberry, SC; Faith Lutheran Church, Batesburg, SC; Transfiguration Lutheran Church, Cayce, SC; St. Paul Lutheran Church, Decatur, GA; Redeemer Lutheran Church, Savannah, GA; and Colony Lutheran Church, Newberry, SC. Dorothy was indeed blessed with many talents. As a pastor's wife, she gave much time helping with various activities at the church. Dorothy was a skilled homemaker and was a wonderful cook who also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cross stitch and quilting. After her husband's retirement, they took great joy in traveling with friends. Dorothy's family will continue to fondly remember her for the love and joy that she graciously shared with them. Mrs. Stucke is survived by her daughter, Lynn S. Springs of Chapin, SC; two sons, Gregg L. (Ann) Stucke of Alpharetta, GA and Carl H. (Claudia) Stucke of Decatur, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer S. (Dave) Leininger of Chapin, SC, Stephen A. (Alison) Springs of Seneca, SC, Clare S. (Russell) Steen of Atlanta, GA, and Katherine A. Stucke of Boone, NC; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of sixty-seven years, Rev. Clarence H. Stucke. Funeral services will be conducted at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, 101 East Boundary St., Chapin, SC, on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM by the Rev. Ginger Litman-Koon and Rev. Jim Nichols. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM prior to the service. Interment will be held at Colony Lutheran Church Cemetery, 48 Colony Church Road, Newberry, SC.
