Douglas "Doug" Edward Wells, 52, of West Union died Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Doug was born on January 9, 1969 in Greenville, a son of the late Raymond Edward and Carol Dominick Wells.
He served in law enforcement as a police officer with Greenville and Horry counties and later worked in the family business, A-Z Rentals, Inc.
Doug enjoyed nature, especially fishing, going to the mountains, and duck hunting. Doug's passion was music – singing, guitars, and Elvis. He was the life of the party and everybody loved him. He and his loyal canine companion Yofie traveled extensively in their one person camper, hoping to eventually reach each of the 48 continental states. Doug loved many things, but what he loved most and was most proud of was his children and his music.
He is survived by his children, Hunter Wells of Travelers Rest, Katherine Wells and Ashley Wells both of Greenville; sisters, Debbie Price (Jimmy) of Greer and Brenda Holland (Kenneth) of Duncan; half-siblings, Derek Wells (Brandy), Brandon Wells, and Haley Burbank (Danny) all of Alabama; step-mother, Nancy Wells of Pickens; girlfriend, Kristy Strange and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his fellow traveler and faithful companion, Yofie.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 8, 2021 at Whitaker Funeral Home, 1704 College Street, Newberry, SC with burial to follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, prior to the service, at Whitaker Funeral Home.
