E. George Fermanis 88 of Chapin died March 24 2010 at Lexington Medical Center. Mr. Fermanis was born on November 17 1921 in Pittsburgh PA the son of the late Mary Miller and Emmanual Konstantine Fermanis. His mother was from Pittsburg PA and his father was from Samos Greece and was a direct descendent of the Royal Family of Greece. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Chapin and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colorado Springs CO. Mr. Fermanis received his Associates Degree from the Community College of the Air Force. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II the Korean War and the Vietnam War and received many recognitions for his service to his country. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Cecil Sites Fermanis of Chapin; daughters and sons-in-law Deborah and Robert H. Sanchez Jr. of Westminster CO and Joanne F. and David L. Carlon of Jacksonville AR; sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Arlean Fermanis of New Orleans LA and Timothy and Lorna Fermanis of Colorado Springs CO; ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Mary Lynn Fermanis and a brother John George Fermanis. Funeral mass will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday March 27 2010 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Chapin by Father Andrew Vollkommer and Deacon Joe Biviano. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home Chapin and visitation will follow from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
