Obituary

Earlene Stockman Cotney 86 formerly of Macedonia Church Rd Prosperity died Monday May 20 2013 at White Oak Manor. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday May 23 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. John White and the Rev. Jim Davis. Interment did follow in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Mrs. Cotney was born in Prosperity on November 7 1926 a daughter of the late Sebern F. and Marie Mills Stockman. She was retired from American Fiber and Finishing. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School to the little ones for many years. She was also a member of Woodman of the World. Mrs. Cotney was a very kind and loving person to her family and never met anyone that she wasnt kind to and considerate of. She was always willing to give whatever she could to people in need. She was faithful to her church until she could no longer attend. She is survived by three daughters Cheryl Toscano (Chuck) of Columbia Kathy Rish of Prosperity and Sandra Worley (Tommy) of Newberry; sister Narves Lindler of Newberry; grandchildren Michael and Jamie Rish Stacy Boland Regina Harris and Zander Cotney; three step-grandchildren Frances Palma Timothy Toscano and Charles Decker; a number of great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. She was predeceased by her husband Birtrun Birt Cotney; son Charles Lanier Cotney; sister Jenell King and infant brother. Pallbearers were Jamie Rish Michael Rish Stacy Boland Zander Cotney Bobby Cotney and Calvin Lindler. Honorary pallbearers were Tobie Shealy Steve Shealy Lee Foster Melvin Dominick Donna Whitmire Jim Davis and Deacons of Bethel Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Baptist Church 2503 Bethel Church Rd Prosperity SC 29127 or to White Oak Manner Activity Department 2555 Kinard St. Newberry SC 29108.
