Edgar “Ed” Paul DuVall, a man of quiet strength and enduring faith, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at Lexington Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Rena B. and Edgar S. DuVall, Ed lived a life defined by his dedication to those he loved. Ed was a man who understood the value of hard work and the importance of family, serving as the “welding link” in his family’s ancestral chain.
Ed was a distinguished aviator, an accomplished race car driver, and a renowned Master builder. Ed loved to be in the garage and thoroughly enjoyed working on cars – whether it be the motor or the body.
Ed’s final weeks were a testament to his character; he fought a courageous battle against pneumonia and heart complications with tenacity that inspired all who knew him. Though his physical body eventually grew tired, his spirit remained unbroken until he was called home.
A man of faith, Ed's legacy lives on through the values of integrity and perseverance he instilled in his children, Keith, Jennifer, Brian, and Christopher.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret, who remained by his side with unwavering love; his daughter, Jennifer, his son, Christopher, 13 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2 Glenn Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM, until 1:45 PM, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Ed’s memory by strengthening your own family bonds and “turning your heart” toward those you love.
The DuVall family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff on the 7th floor of Lexington Medical Center for their compassionate care during his final days.
Memories and messages may be shared on his tribute wall.
Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to serve the DuVall family.
