Edith McDuffie Walker 100 formerly of the Bush River section of Newberry County died Tuesday March 30 2010 at the Presbyterian Home of South Carolina in Clinton. She was born in Dillon SC on November 26 1909 to the late Dougal and Nora Miller McDuffie. Prior to her marriage she was a member of Kentyre Presbyterian Church of Hamer SC but attended Bush River Baptist Church for most of her life. Mrs. Walker was a graduate of Newberry College and received her Master's degree from the University of South Carolina. She taught school for many years at Bush River and she enjoyed her membership and participation in the Garden Study Club. Mrs. Walker is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William W. "Bill" Walker. Graveside funeral services were conducted at 5:00 PM Thursday April 1 2010 at the Bush River Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Brian Preston. The family suggests memorials be made to Bush River Baptist Church 8936 Bush River Road Newberry SC 29108.
