Edmund P. Sullivan, 87, of Chapin, South Carolina, died peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2026 at his home.
Born on October 31, 1938, in Staten Island, New York, he was a son to the late John Sullivan and Floria Pellegrini Sullivan Ferretti.
New York treated Edmund well, as it is where he met the love of his life, Gertrude Hansen Sullivan.
He spent his career as a draftsman and water plant operator, working for NCR, and the City of Cayce. In his spare time, he could often be found enjoying his favorite pastimes, including fishing, watching baseball games, listening to classical music and classic rock, and playing guitar—simple pleasures that brought him a sense of happiness throughout his life.
Known for his kindness and strength, he lived his life with honesty and integrity, always guided by what he believed was right. He was always upbeat and optimistic, sharing his energy and warmth with those around him.
Edmund is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude; daughter, Jayne Hamilton (Wes Hamilton); grandson, Sean Hamilton; sisters, Jane Fowler and Mary Danke; brother, Stephen Sullivan; niece, Meredith Riordon; and nephews, Kyle Riordon and James Sullivan.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home Chapin. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Whitaker Funeral Home Chapin, with interment following the service at Newberry Memorial Gardens.
