Edward Frazier Lominack Jr. 77 of Newberry died Thursday January 15 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Floyd Sides at 3:00 PM on Monday January 19 in Wiles Chapel on the Newberry College Campus. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Mr. Lominack was born on October 29 1937 in Laurens County the son of the late Edward Frazier Lominack Sr. and Mattie Chaney Lominack. He graduated from Newberry High School and attended Newberry College. He served in the S.C. National Guard for a number of years and also served as a volunteer member of the Friendly Fire Department having been awarded Fireman of the Year in 1969. In his early career Edward worked with Werts Music and Appliance Co Leavells Radio and TV and WKDK-AM radio station. Mr. Lominack served Newberry County for 27 years most notably as the County Administrator. He was honored as a South Carolina Ambassador for Economic Development in 1989 by Gov. Caroll A. Campbell Jr. and also received the distinguished Order of the Palmetto from Gov. Jim Hodges in December of 2000. Following his retirement from Newberry County he served as Interim Administrator for McCormick County. He served as Past President of the Newberry County Municipal Association Past President of Sertoma International and Past Secretary of the South Carolina Administrators Managers and Supervisors Association. And most recently he has been a member of the Whitaker Funeral Home family. Mr. Lominack is survived by his wife of 53 years Nell Bedenbaugh Lominack; sons and their wives Edward F.Trey Lominack III and Jennifer of Bay Village OH and Garrett D. Lominack and Molly of Little Mountain; grandchildren Kassidy Beth Lominack William Kirby Lominack and Summer Caroline Lominack; sisters and their husbands Ann Lominack Candee and Terry and Martha Lominack Arthur and Glenn all of Columbia; a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jason Bedenbaugh Parkes Coggins Kyle Dickert Brandon Boozer Jimmy Coggins and Glenn Arthur.
