Edward S. Lippitt Sr. age 94 of Dayton Ohio completed his life journey on September 11 2011. Ed was preceded in death by his brother Ralph. He is survived by Agnes his devoted wife of 68 years his brother Bill in Cleveland OH and four loving children Edward Jr. Nancy Elizabeth (Betsy) and John; 6 adoring grandchildren Elizabeth Christopher Tabitha Heather Kelly and Brea; and 7 adorable great-grandchildren Blythe Brayden Sophia Logan Daphne Graham and Marshall. A genuine servant-leader Edward S. Lippitt made the world a better place. After serving his country in WWII in the Army Quartermaster Service he completed his duties as a Major in the Army Reserves. As a direct result of his 22 years of dedicated service as the State Executive Director of United Cerebral Palsy of Ohio and 17 years guiding and facilitating Training and Development for the Montgomery County Board of Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities the quality of life and achievements for thousands of physically and mentally challenged individuals and their families have been dramatically improved. Born in Troy NY and raised in Albany Eds early years in the Army brought him to South Carolina where he met Agnes Summer Mayes whom he married on September 9 1943. After returning from his tour of duty in Europe during WWII they settled in Charlotte NC until moving to Dayton OH in 1956. Ed was an avid golfer a member of Miami Valley Golf Club and a long time member of the Grace United Methodist Church. After 46 years in their home in Upper Dayton View Ed and Agnes moved to the Friendship Village in 2007. Services were held 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. Main St. by Rev. David Snowdon. The family did receive friends Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until time of services. Interment was in at 1:00 P.M. Sunday in Rosemont Cemetery Newberry SC. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Edward S. Lippitts name to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care of Dayton or Friendship Village of Dayton.
