Obituary

Edwin "Ted" Caldwell Hentz, 82, of White Rock died Thursday June 16, 2022 at The Heritage at Lowman. Born on Feb 2, 1940 in Anderson, SC he was a son of the late E. Olin and Mary Paget Hentz. Ted was an alumnus of Presbyterian College and MUSC. Upon graduation from medical school, Ted joined the United States Army completing his residency in pathology. His military service included 14 years of active duty, including the Vietnam War era, and 4 additional years in the Army Reserves. His professional memberships included the Chester County Medical Society; the South Carolina Medical Association, the American Medical Association. He was Fellow of the College of American Pathology. As time allowed, he enjoyed being a member of Trout Unlimited and attending Clemson Football Games. He was proud to be a lifetime Member of IPTAY, supporting his Tigers. Ted was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in White Rock. He is survived by his daughters; Mary Katherine Hentz Clemens (Dennis) of Winston Salem, NC, Martha Hentz Lipold (John) of Gainesville, GA, and Rebecca Hentz Davis (Edwin) of Ballentine; a brother, James "Jimmy" Hentz (Janie) of Litchfield Beach; 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Claire Smith Hentz and his brother, E. Olin Hentz, Jr. Services will be conducted at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 by Rev. Kathleen Miko and Rev. Megan Lineberger at the Heritage at Lowman Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Interment with military honors will be held at 10 AM, Thursday June 23, 2022 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Heritage at Lowman, PO Box 444, White Rock, SC 29177. Memories and messages may be shared with the family here on his tribute page.
