Elbert Hub Gresham 78 of 2038 Montgomery St. Newberry died Saturday September 4 at his residence. He was born on December 13 1931 in Newberry a son of the late Jerry Hamilton and Annie Mae McCumber Gresham. Mr. Gresham is an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and later served in the South Carolina National Guard. He attended the Newberry Church of God and retired as an Assistant Overseer from American Fiber and Finishing. He was a member of Amity Masonic Lodge #87 a former volunteer Fireman for Newberry and a former volunteer for Community Emergencies. He is survived by daughters and son-in-law Barbara Goforth of Newberry and Elaine and Tony Wise of Kinards; sister Gussie Lawson of Whitmire; grandchildren and their spouses Elbert Goforth Terry Crapps Pacha (Donnie) Harlow Krystal (Jay) Durham and Natosha (Shawn) Phillips; and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Olivia D. Gresham; four brothers; two sisters and a son-in-law Larry Goforth. Funeral services were conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday at Newberry Church of God by Rev. Michael Shirley Rev. Wayne Tobias and Rev. Paul Rowe. Interment with military honors were in the Whitmire Cemetery. Visitation was from 6:30 to 7:30 PM Monday at Whitaker Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Newberry Church of God 2693 College St. Newberry SC 29108. Pallbearers were Skip Davenport Donnie Cockrell Shawn Phillips Jay Durham Billy Gresham and Kent Prather. Honorary pallbearers were Hospice Care of Tri County Shakisha Redmond and Dr. Michael Bernardo. The family would like to say a special Thank You to Kelly Doris Shelia and Kerri of Hospice Care of Tri County Shakisha Redmond Dr. Michael Bernardo and Love Stribble for their support and care of Mr. Gresham.
