Elizabeth Geraldine
Gambill
October 10, 1942 – June 1, 2026
St. Thomas Lutheran Church Cemetery
Starts at 4:00 pm (Eastern time)
Elizabeth Geraldine “Geri” Gambill, 83, of Chapin, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026.
Elizabeth was dedicated to serving others and took great pride in her role as a nurse. At the time of her retirement, she was serving as the Administrator at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Elizabeth was never one to sit still. She was an avid gardener, loved fishing, enjoyed listening to gospel music, playing the piano, cooking, and crocheting. Above all, nothing brought her greater joy than her children, grandchildren, and her love for animals. Her family will cherish years of memories, from making homemade candy and ice cream to crocheting alongside her.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Harry E. Amick and Vera L. Amick; and her sisters, Edna Gilliam and Louetta Slice.
She is survived by her sister, Marie Stoudemire (Albert); her children, Rudy Gardner (Susie), Debbie McCaslin (Mike), Mark Ruilova, Tonya Smith, and Terry “Tuck” Gardner (Cindy); eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to her daughter-in-law, Cindy Gardner, who lovingly cared for mom as her primary caregiver. Cindy’s steadfast devotion, gentle compassion, and countless acts of kindness allowed mom to remain surrounded by comfort, dignity, and love. The family will be forever grateful for the extraordinary care she provided and the blessing she was to our mom in her final days.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Memories and messages may be shared on her tribute wall.
Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Elizabeth Gambill.
