Elizabeth "Libbie" Mann Shealy,61, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Richland Memorial Hospital. She is the wife of Lynn Murray Shealy of Chapin. She was born on September 11, 1955 at the U.S. Naval Base Hospital at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Shealy Ott (Daniel) and three grandchildren, Emily, Mason, and Chandler of Simpsonville, SC and a son, Walton Murray Shealy (Julie) and three grandchildren, Jay, Hank, and Gage (the loves of her life!!!). Libbie is the daughter of Rachel Mann of Chapin and the late John Mann, sister of Stephanie Mann Wilkes (Keith) of Chapin and aunt to their daughters, Jennifer Wilkes Krinn (Matt) of Rock Hill, SC and Rachel Elizabeth Wilkes of Greenville, SC. Libbie has been an active member of the St. Jacobs Lutheran Church of Chapin for 39 years, particularly in Christian Education as a Sunday School Superintendent, Director of Vacation Bible School, Sunday school teacher and leader of Children's Devotion. Libbie is an honors graduate of Chapin High School and Winthrop College in Elementary Education in 1977. She taught at Garmany Elementary School in Newberry County for several years under Principal Pickens Riser. Libbie, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, enjoyed her grandchildren and played tennis for some 30 odd years with the USTA in Columbia and Chapin. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 14 at St. Jacobs Lutheran Church by the Rev. Derald Edwards. Burial will be at St. Jacobs Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to St. Jacobs Lutheran Church Building Fund, 844 Columbia Ave, Chapin, SC 29036. Pallbearers will be Don Dease, Eddie Epting, Chad Lindler, Billy McTeer, Lany Morris and Davis Pinner. The Crooked Creek Crew tennis team will serve as honorary pallbearers.
