Elizabeth Suber Setzler 96 of 3241 College St. Newberry died Tuesday July 13 2010 at her residence. Born on Nov. 5 1913 in Newberry she was the daughter of the late William H. and Claudia Coleman Suber. She was a 1935 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Newberry College and was the first member of the Newberry College Singers. She taught at Gray Court High School for a short while and along with her husband they founded Setzler Farms in Newberry. Mrs. Setzler was the oldest living member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer where she was a former member of the church choir. She was a member of the George B. Cromer Sunday School Class the 50 Plus. and the Miriam Circle of WELCA. She was awarded a Lifetime Honorary Membership of WELCA on Bold Women Sunday Feb. 25 2007. She was proud of her heritage and she was a member of the Jasper Chapter of the DAR and was a former member of the UDC. Mrs. Setzler loved her Lord and family along with her cats and flowers especially her Perkins Roses. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to the Thursday Morning Bridge Club. She loved to cook particularly for her family and she and her husband used to have fishing parties and fish fries at their farm. She is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law Claudia S. and Dr. James F. OBosky of Upper Saddle River NJ and Elizabeth S. Willingham of Newberry; 2 sons and daughters-in-law Carl B. Jr. and Helen Setzler of Newberry and Charles W. and Terri Setzler of Prosperity; 12 grandchildren Mary Elizabeth (Charles) Steward James (Marta) OBosky Jr. Claudia (John) Moore Caroline OBosky Eric (Shelley) Willingham Julie Willingham Ben Setzler III Brad Setzler Lora Setzler Justin (Megan) Setzler Garrett (Tracy) Setzler and Brett Setzler; 15 great grandchildren; and her special care givers Dorene Nance Mary Hill and Bettie Chick. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Carl B. Setzler Sr. a son-in-law John K. Willingham Jr. and 2 sisters Gladys S. Daniels and Mary Alice S. WellsFuneral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer by the Rev. Caldwell Day. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry.Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
