Ellie Jane Shealy Wise, 76, of Newberry, died March 22, 2021 at her home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Chapin on June 17, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Heber (H.C.) Shealy and Rosaline Shealy Ringer. Mrs. Wise was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, the Women of the ELCA and Miriam Circle. She was a former member of church council and served as a former Sunday School Teacher and organist for St. James and Beth-Eden Lutheran Church. Ellie Jane retired from Newberry County Schools, was a member of the Joanna Lions Club and the Bush River Activity Association. She will be remembered for her servant's heart, Ellie Jane loved to give and do for others. She is survived her children; Michael Wise (Barbara Cromer) of Little Mountain, Garrick Wise (Haley) of Kinards, and Melinda (Tarry) Long of Pomaria; grandchildren Taylor and Zachary Wise, Courtney Wise Swafford, Jennifer (Benji) Bickley, and Michelle (Dillon) Amick; and great-grandchildren, Madison, Sydney, and Robert Swafford, Noah Bickley, and Levi Amick. Ellie Jane is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Bartley and Bethany Cromer, and sisters, Carolyn Marsh, Sylvia (Len) Ruff, and Helen (Carroll) Wise. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James E. "Jimmy" Wise. The family will be at the home, 25557 US HWY 76, Newberry, SC. A private family service will be conducted by the Rev. Rodney Gunter and the Rev. James Shealy at 2:00 PM on Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church. The services will also be livestreamed for those wishing to join virtually. Burial will follow in the church cemetery and all are welcome to attend.
