Ernestine Gibson Swindell Riddle 85 of 3250 Nance St. Newberry died Thursday October 21 2010 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. Born Newberry County on March 18 1925 she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Sula Hipp Gibson. She was twice married first to the late Carlos A. Swindell and second to the late Robert L. Riddle. Mrs. Riddle was retired from Joanna Mills and was a member of West End Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carleen and Larry Beard of Newberry; a son and daughter-in-law James R. Jimmy and Nancy Swindell of Neptune Beach FL; a sister Evelyne Bishop of Spartanburg; 4 grandchildren Carla Lindler Don Beard Jason Swindell and Claire Swindell; 4 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. Kevin Carter. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to West End Baptist Church P.O. Box 906 Newberry SC 29108. Active pallbearers were Lenny Mack Mike Clamp Del Kibler Clarence Kibler Allen Millsap and Pope Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of West End Baptist Church.
