Eugenia "Jeannie" Powers Greene, 75, of Prosperity, passed away Sunday, June 4th, 2017. Born on August 2nd 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Maurice Merton Powers and Margaret Annelizabeth Crichton Powers. Mrs. Greene attended USC in Union, where she earned an associate's degree in Business Administration. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Union, the Union Jaycees and the Spartanburg Ski Club. She lived in Union for many years while raising her two children and working as a Realtor. She eventually retired to the family's lake house on Lake Murray which allowed her to work part time with Lake Murray Appraisals and to be actively involved in her granddaughters' lives. Throughout her life she loved gardening, bird watching, and the companionship of her pets. She is survived by her husband Reuben "Peewee" Greene of Prosperity; daughter, Happy Beth Laymon of Prosperity; son, Paul Scott Greene of Washington, DC; granddaughters, Kalley Marie Laymon and Crista Anne Laymon; siblings, Laura Copeland, Patricia Williams, and Harold Powers all of VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
