Eva Mae Shealy Mims, 91, of Hueytown, AL went to be with her Lord April 6, 2021. Eva was born in Newberry, South Carolina, where she grew up and met Lawrence, the love of her life. She and Lawrence settled in Hueytown and raised their family. Eva worked many years as a beautician assistant. After retirement she loved and adored caring for her grandchildren whenever she could. Eva was a former member of Industrial City Baptist Church and a current member of Valley Creek Baptist Church. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Vesta and Lester Shealy; her brothers, Robert Shealy, E. L. Shealy, and Bill Shealy; her sister, Mildred Bouknight; and her daughter Lynn Shaw. Eva is survived by her loving husband of almost 69 years, Lawrence; her children, Larry (Cathy) Mims, Barry (Mary) Mims; her grandchildren, Kristin (Kevin) Douglass, Corey (Macy) Mims, Alex Mims, Reagan Shaw; her great grandchildren Makinley, Brinley, Evelyn, Walker and Waylon; her brother, Andrew Shealy of Newberry. A special thanks to loving caregivers Carole Miller and Carol Brown; and to the providers at Hospice Services of Alabama. Visitation will be held Friday, April 9th from 10-11 am, with service at 11am at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home in Hueytown. Burial will follow at Valley Creek Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are requested. Bro. Glen Edmonds and Bro. Bob Weber will be officiating the service.
