Everett D. "Pop" Koon 76 of 315 Sid Bickley Road Chapin died Monday December 29 2003 at Providence North East Hospital in Columbia. Mr. Koon was born on June 20 1927 in Newberry County a son of the late Ira and Norvice Bishop Koon. He was an Army veteran of World II and was a retired employee of McCullough Sheet Metals Company. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church a member of the AARP Lunch Bunch at Crooked Creek and a life member of V. F. W. Post 8069.Mr. Koon was twice married first to the late Minnie Lou Suber Koon and second to Katherine Bickley Koon.He is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter Lou K. Koon of Little Mountain; two sons and a daughter-in-law Larry Koon of Pomaria and Wayne and Geraldine Koon of Little Mountain; six step-daughters Edith Leaphart of Batesburg Becky McCartha and Mary Coltrane of Chapin Ann Summer of Little Mountain Verna Sawyer of Columbia and Debra Slagle of Brandon FL; three step-sons O'Neal Bickley Donnie Bickley and Ronnie Bickley all of Chapin; two foster children Matthew Havird and Michael Havird both of Little Mountain; four grandchildren Dennis Koon Barron Meetze and Sonya Koon all of Little Mountain and Melissa Adair of Simpsonville; two great-grandchildren; twenty four step-grandchildren and twenty step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a step-son David Bickley.Graveside funeral services for Everett D. Koon will be conducted at 11:00 A. M. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pomaria by the Rev. Steve Jackson.Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 P. M.
