Everett Summer 81 1942 Glenn Street Extension Newberry died Sunday August 3 2003 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Summer was born on May 21 1922 in Newberry County a son of the late J. Thomas and Ella Sligh Summer. He was the retired owner of Summer Brothers Painting Company. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a life member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church a choir member and a member of the Men's Club. He was a member of the Newberry Exchange Club. Mr. Summer is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Edith Hawkins Summer of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law Ralph and Kathy Summer and Ronnie and Devonna Summer all of Newberry; a sister Kathryn Hamm of Newberry; two brothers Claude S. Summer and Larry "Punk" Summer both of Newberry; three grandchildren and spouse Jennifer and Joey Long of Prosperity Will Summer and Kane Summer both of Newberry; a great-grandchild Jerran Long of Prosperity. He was predeceased by four sisters Alice Cromer Frances Taylor Margaret Hawkins and Louise Koon and a brother Ralph H. Summer.Funeral services for Everett Summer will be conducted at 3:00 P. M. Tuesday at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church by the Rev. Becky Huguley and the Rev. Bruce Palmer. Interment will be in the church cemetery.Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 P. M. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. The family will be at the residence 1942 Glenn Street Ext.
