Obituary

Faiery Wicker Kinard, 88, of Prosperity, widow of J C Kinard, died Friday, September 2, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center. Born in Newberry County on July 10th, 1928, she was a daughter of the late James Thaddeus Wicker, Sr. and Allene Free Wicker. Mrs. Kinard worked at Old School Manufacturing and retired from Collins Aikman Hosiery Plant. She was a member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class when her health allowed. She was also a former Sunday School Teacher and member of the "50 and Over Group". Mrs. Kinard is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jerry Myers, of Prosperity, a daughter, Bobbie K. Wessinger of Chapin and a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Donetta Kinard of Prosperity with whom she had made her home the last several years. Faiery was blessed with wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren of whom she was very proud. She is survived by her grandchildren, Tina and Joe Metts and Amanda Myers all of Prosperity, Bryan and Holly Wessinger of Chapin, and Danielle Burnside and Ashley Glymph both of Prosperity; and her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Cody Metts, of Prosperity, Brantley Wessinger Keisler of Chapin and Gabriel Glymph of Prosperity. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Ricky Cody; brother, James T. Wicker, Jr.; and sisters, Lois Kibler and Jeanie Rawls. Visitation will be held on Sunday September 4, 2016 from 6:00- 7:30 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Funeral services will be held at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church at 3:00 pm on Monday, September 5, 2016 with Rev. Floyd Sides and Rev. James Shealy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bryan Wessinger, John Derrick, Paul Derrick, Terry Rawls, Keith Wicker, Hannon Bedenbaugh and Danny Rish. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School Class and the "50 and Over Group" of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church, Tommy Kinard, Billy Dill, Dean Wise, Jimmy Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Frick, Donna Cohen, Nancy Dickert, George and Harriette Kinard, Debra Morris and Bryan and Jo Ann Amick. The family suggests memorials be made to Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 3074 Bachman Chapel Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
