Faye Harmon Smith 53 of 748 Shingle Mill Road Newberry died Tuesday April 6 2010 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Newberry County on October 12 1956 to Robert Cecil and Narvice Wise Harmon of Newberry. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and worked as a special needs job coach for the Newberry County School District. In addition to her parents Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband Roger Dean Smith; her son John Clay Taylor of Newberry; a sister and brother-in-law Gail H. and Von James of Newberry; and a nephew Robert Daniel James. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday April 10 2010 at the St. Phillips Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick and the Rev. Rodney Gunter. Interment was in the church cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry. Pallbearers were Melvin Metts Robert James Larry Warrington Garrick Wise Brady Livingston Don Richardson Travis Livingston and Wayne Prater. Honorary pallbearers were Frances Berry Susan Satterfield Marylyn Merchant Ms. Gracie Randy Wicker Ann Brite Bobbie Nichols and Tina Presley.
