IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Floy Ann Dennis
Lipscomb
March 1, 1943 – January 14, 2025
Floy Ann Dennis Lipscomb, 81, of Newberry, SC and formerly of Springfield, Virginia died Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Springfield Place Newberry.
Born on March 1, 1943 in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late Floyd H. and Anna Pearsall Dennis.
Floy graduated from Winthrop College and married her high school sweetheart, Lewis M. Lipscomb, Jr. They were married for almost 50 years and traveled the world together as he served in the United States Army. Wherever they moved, Floy established and maintained the home, as well as found work as a medical technologist in a local laboratory. Upon Lewis's retirement, she continued her career in both the public and private sector. Their love endured, even after his death, and it was only fitting that she would be reunited with him forever on his birthday, January 14.
Floy loved her country and was proud to be an American. In addition to supporting her father and husband in active service, she was an active participant in Post 7327 Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary in Springfield, where she served as Secretary and President. With Post 7327 VFW Auxiliary, she worked diligently to raise donations for newborns in the nursery at Fort Belvoir Hospital. She was also an active auxiliary member of Unit 176 of the American Legion in Springfield. She served as President, Secretary, Advisor to the Unit President, and chaired several programs to enhance the organization's missions. She particularly enjoyed helping send young women to Girls State to learn the intricacies of the federal government. Floy found lasting friendships in both groups and was proud of the work they accomplished together.
Floy was a loving, gentle, and kindhearted person with a good sense of humor. She was meticulous in all she did, even in her 'tinkering.' Following in her father's footsteps, she bought and restored old clocks and found joy in fixing things around the house. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, and other adventures. She was truly loved by her family and will be missed.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Anne Lipscomb; brothers-in-law, Durrett Lipscomb (Marcia) and Bobby Lipscomb (Debbie); nieces and nephews, Courtney Renfrow (Jay), Trey Bogue, Keri Lipscomb Dalrymple (Sean), Allston Lipscomb, and Margaret Lipscomb Wells (John); cousins, Ernestine Chaplin and Adgie Chappell; friend, Glynda Meadows, and several great-nieces and a great-nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Jason Edwards at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Aveleigh Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM at Aveleigh Presbyterian church.
