Frances Shealy Bowers, 84, of Chapin, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in her cherished hometown of Chapin. Born on January 8, 1942, she was a daughter to the late Jesse Malcolm Shealy and Stella Irene Summer Shealy. Frances was the devoted wife of Bryan Pierce Bowers, Sr., with whom she shared a life rich in love and companionship.
Frances was a member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, where she found spiritual fulfillment and developed lifelong friendships. Her church community admired her steadfast faith and generous spirit.
A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and soon to be great-grandmother, Frances was well-known for her ability to maintain an impeccably clean and orderly home. Her passion for gardening was evident in her beautiful yard, which she always meticulously cared for. These talents, combined with her love of cooking, made her a cherished matriarch of the Bowers family. Her delicious meals were a staple at holidays and special gatherings, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
For over 25 years, Frances brought joy to countless students and teachers while working at the Chapin High School Cafeteria. Her kindness and attention to detail left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Nothing brought Frances more joy than spending time with her grandchildren, watching them grow and thrive. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Parker Warren King, and the opportunity to share her love and wisdom with the next generation.
Her vibrant spirit and commitment to staying active were evident in everything she did. Frances valued family above all else, and her legacy of love and dedication to those she held dear will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Frances is survived by, her husband of 64 years, Bryan P. Bowers, Sr.; children, Bryan P. Bowers, Jr., Laura Daily (Warren) and Julie Zeigler (Eddie); grandchildren, Madison King (Holden), Blaine Daily (Trad Beatty), Karoline Zeigler and Anna Grace Zeigler; her future Great-grandson, Parker Warren King; and her sister, Vivian Cameron.
Graveside services will be held 10:00AM, Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Newberry Memorial Gardens. Officiated by Rev. David W. Nouttili.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin.
Pallbearers will be Jason Wicker, Travis Boyd, Melissa Wicker Harmon and Donna Shealy Foster.
The family would like to express their great appreciation and give thanks to staff members at Generations of Chapin and the Three Oak’s Hospice Nurses that diligently cared for her. The family would also like to thank Betty Pelletier for the years of dedicated care and assistance.
Memorials may be made in Frances’s memory to Chapin Meals on Wheels and or to St, Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
